lyrics

he was a sinner and a saint
a man of his faith
and if you knew him
then you knew him to believe in his fate
it was new then in his mind
he should think with his heart
it had been proven time and time again
and this was his art
it was when heaven meant together
never better apart
and it was bred into his soul
but bloodletting the dark
this was a foreshadow
unforseen events would occur
that would disturb sanctity
and make him slave to the curse

we all have our dreams
and most of us never see them
there is no good reason
there's nothing to believe in

there was a future once, it was himself
the world has turned so pale
beware the fruit you touch, it may contain your death
it hangs in the thin of the veil
those years of heartfelt fronts, to this a toast
the pain in this ethereal hell
so he has since gave up
and now he's nothing more than just a ghost

there was a dream (yep)
pouring from his seams it was big
and everybody has it happen
that's the way that it is
his was larger than his life would ever be
he would stick this
in anybody's face that paid attention to this kid
now with this said
there wasn't a get rich
for pulling from his head
the wickedest sick riffs
his soul in a sound that was more like a sickness
and down came reality to give him the quit slip

we all have our dreams
and most of us never see them
there is no good reason
there's nothing to believe in

and now we come to the place he awoke
and it appears to him
that he was never in on the joke
but it was quite an awakening
from the mirrors and smoke
and it was like it erased the thing
that he dearly had hoped
and so he rose
he was dead
but alive
and his breath
hadn't died
so he let
out a sigh
and he left
now he's knock knockin' on heaven's door
but it surely never opens when you're in purgatory

crying brings nothing
i believed something
those beliefs cost me
dying dreams haunt me

there was a future once, it was himself
the world has turned so pale
beware the fruit you touch, it may contain your death
it hangs in the thin of the veil
those years of heartfelt fronts, to this a toast
the pain in this ethereal hell
so he has since gave up
and now he's nothing more than just a ghost
